Have you read this Catching Wavves: Band drops excellent new album on iTunes, drummer really … - July 1, 2010 by jamesdean

The album’s title may be something of an ego-fueled joke on indie’s ongoing infatuation with seaside fantasy, but Williams is still very much a part of the world he pokes fun at. Shut it.

The mood never becomes oppressive, though. “I’m not supposed to be a kid/ But I’m an idiot/ I’d say I’m sorry but it wouldn’t mean shit,” isn’t the most artful mea culpa, but like most of King of the Beach manifests a quantum leap in Williams’ confidence as a musician, from a lyrical standpoint, he’s pretty much the same downbeat loner who made Wavvves. Though the scorched-earth production of Wavvves was pretty much the same downbeat loner who made Wavvves. Though the scorched-earth production of Wavvves was pretty much the opposite of chillwave, it did share themes, embracing weed, nostalgia, and both music-making and the outdoors as ideal escapes from early-20s boredom and a depressed job market. Babble on, dude. Catchy as they were, the melodies of “So Bored” and “No Hope Kids” weren’t hooks so much as battering rams that broke through with sheer repetition.

His old friends hate him, girls won’t listen, and he’s fucked up. Click HERE to start streaming the album. But Hayes. A celebration of the artistic community in Shoreditch, the event will contain a host of one off performances. Now Wavves are free to focus on their music. Williams has boasted that he wants King of the Beach to be his Nevermind , and while I’ll go out on a limb and speculate that it won’t change the music industry as we know it, it serves a somewhat similar function in introducing a talent who benefits from a pop polish. For those who were worried that the studio would tame Wavves’ style, you can now put your minds at ease — it’s still noisy as hell. Want to hear what we’re talking about. It includes titles such as “Baseball Cards” and “Super Soaker,” (listen to a live version of the latter recorded at Sirius XM above), but is actually a more grown-up effort than his previous bedroom productions. In the past, Williams’ 1960s fixation mostly manifested in some falsetto Brian Wilson oohs and ahs, and that’s still his go-to hook. Returning with their second album ‘King Of The Beach’ in its entirety at the imprint’s promo page. With new musicians behind him Wavves seemed to grow in confidence.

Just ask all those kids with Xs on their hands who were moshing up front. Meanwhile, Wavves have launched an ambitious tour. If we’re lucky, Wavves will leave behind the squirrel jokes on this round of touring. Now, Williams is back on top with a new band and a studio-crafted new album, King of the Beach , which is now freely streaming online. Why. Hayes wasn’t always such a talker.

It’s very much a punk record in attitude, but one that eschews its artier iterations and reps for the marginalized, snotty mid-90s heads like Green Day, MxPx, or even Blink-182, bands who were wrongly conflated with jock culture despite predominant themes of isolation, boredom, and sexual inadequacy. Don’t blow it, dude. King of the Beach manifests a quantum leap in Williams’ confidence as a musician, from a lyrical standpoint, he’s pretty much the same downbeat loner who made Wavvves. Though the scorched-earth production of Wavvves was pretty much the opposite of chillwave, it did share themes, embracing weed, nostalgia, and both music-making and the outdoors as ideal escapes from early-20s boredom and a depressed job market. Kanye West Releasing New Album – Good Ass Job (never expected this) - June 29, 2010 by jamesdean

image

Music artist Kid Cudi, plus Kanye’s highly anticipated 808s & Heartbreak follow-up, were all scheduled for the same day. “went to kanye new soho liar to here his album, the college drop out has graduated n To full grown rap star. black strong .Sept 14 yazee!!!,” he wrote on Twitter last week. Black strong.

Sept 14 yazee!!” Kanye is one of the acts scheduled to perform at this year’s BET Awards, which takes place in Los Angeles today. Not a bad tally of benefits by any account. No more specifics were given, but it obviously isn’t gonna drop in June as previously stated. “Well, first of all, if you look at all of Kanye West’s output, he actually did a lot to bring back sampling and make it cool again, even though he’s more of a mainstream artist” Premier explained. “But his new album is strictly hard beats and rhyme.

Enhanced and improved posture, greater fat burning when walking, help getting rid of ugly cellulite, relief from joint pain and a firmer bottom and more shapely legs. The ‘Heartless’ rapper has quietly been working on a follow-up to 2008′s ’808s & Heartbreak’ for the past year, and fans will get to hear the record fairly soon. It can make your body be more and more tangible and it can also help you lose your weight. G.O.O.D. Who the hell knows.

Monday’s latest news Jackie Greene’s new album out Tuesday - June 28, 2010 by jamesdean

pic

I can take it off anytime. (laughs). But having said that, if I was, like, really rich, and I had early on developed a sound everyone had bought into, I might be singing a different tune.

I just want to keep moving. A lot of things with ambitious vocal harmonies.

Most paintings don’t sell either. Maybe I should say the lower middle rung. ? There is a lot of people to buy it. (But) if it doesn’t, that’s fine.

For me, (an album) is always just a reflection of what I am into at the time. Most people don’t even want art anymore. As a person who writes songs and records music, I think it is important to keep moving ? in whatever direction. It is (better than being) at the top of the ladder, and not have anywhere else to go. I guess the weird thing is there is actually less (instrumentation) on this record than there was on the previous record. I will do it short and sweet. “Till the Light Comes” pegged, Greene lets loose with a barroom smoker like the title track.

I mean, our stake has gone up over the past few years (because) of touring constantly, but we are still sort of on the bottom rung. They want to plaster their walls with flat-screen televisions instead. Yet just when you think you have “Till the Light Comes” seems lusher and less rootsy than your previous album, “Giving Up the Ghost.” Could you talk about the sound you were going for. Is the prospect of singing the national anthem today before the 7:15 p.m. I was a good second baseman, and I pitched a little. I did. How do you feel about the level you have reached in the music industry. I might not want to change that. ? But I don’t, (so) I can do whatever I want. Because we are working, you know, and touring a lot, but we don’t sell any records.

We are climbing up the ladder. Maybe that is an overstatement. Either that or a guitar player. It is a fake one, though. I think it does. Why would a painter paint something. Given what you have achieved, people might think you are crazy to say you’re on the bottom rung. They want to plaster their walls with flat-screen televisions instead. Yet just when you think you have “Till the Light Comes” pegged, Greene lets loose with a barroom smoker like the title track.

I mean, our stake has gone up over the past few years (because) of touring constantly, but we are still sort of on the bottom rung. ? The public has chosen they want recorded music for free (through illegal downloads), and it doesn’t matter what I think about that, or what anyone else thinks about that. I just went the musician route instead. But honestly, if I got a call from the Fresno Grizzlies and they said, ‘Dude, you can be a middle reliever. I mean it in a positive way actually.

Nobody really sells any records right now. If you want to even come close to making a living, you have to tour.

Is it important that your sound evolve with each new record. I don’t get it as much anymore. I make songs. That is what I do. Does the beard help. Well, in the music industry, realistically, my place is at the bottom. Did you take more time writing songs as well. It doesn’t really matter to me.

Startling new album news – Blink-182 to Record New Album This Fall! - June 27, 2010 by jamesdean

photo

The blog post read: “When the European tour is finished, we head back and play one show in Southern California, then that is if for live shows for the rest of 2010. Most importantly, Will it suck or be good. It was just about being a kid and doing what kids do. Most fans are unsure, including myself. Why. Until it is finished.” He went on to add: All of us have ideas from before and after the tour last summer, And are excited to get into the studio and see those ideas come to light.

When blink got back together my entire generation cried tears of joy. But the boys are hardly kids anymore and have done allot of growing up over the last decade. This will be their first studio release since there self titled 2003 album which was at the time seemingly the closing curtains of blink-182, the best pop-punk band of all time. Its happened to many times before when a great band gets back together and tries to recreate something they no longer have. Because we’ll be in the studio recording the new Blink-182 album. We had no Bob Dylan or John Lennon you see, we did however have Blink-182, three immature guys writing some of the catchiest most unforgettable and definitive anthems of 90s-2000′s youth, there was no great cause, no battle to be won, no war to end.

Simple as that.” I think anxious is the best word to describe the overall feelings of blink’s new album. For some reason that’s exactly what made the music so great. Upon the time of the reunion we were promised a new album which seemed to be an idea which went into the wastebasket after their reunion tour. So will the band go in a new direction? or will they try to muster up some emotion from there youthful days and try to still sound authentically young.

Alejandro Escovedo On His New Album, ‘Street Songs of Love’ (doh) - June 27, 2010 by jamesdean

photo

We should just get over it and have universal health for everyone. Why is this such a an issue among musicians. When that happens, you’re no longer thinking about being a musician, you are a musician. Does this say something larger about the status of musicians in our culture. He was very supportive of my brothers.

I felt more confident about the size of the band because we weren’t using strings or horns. What are you listening to currently. Just immerse yourself in music. There’s also 12 kids.

I think for me, he wanted other things. One of the kids was showing another kid a new dance or how to play a rhythm on a drum. And yet I think that music and the power of music is so important in our lives. Then it becomes a language that you speak. Why should we help this guy because he stayed up too late and drank too much and whatever. There was always music in the house. To be a musician in America is to be a person who really doesn’t get any respect for what he does.

When I was brought down with my illness, whenever I would go to someone for help, there were a lot of people who would refer to this illness as a lifestyle illness, in the same way they did with AIDs. Was your father encouraging of your decision to become a musician. One song on the record, “Down in the Bowery,” was written for your son, who’s beginning a career in music. I think it made it tougher-sounding, more streamlined, more focused. Poor people, old people, people with AIDS, people with cancer -– there’s so many people who cannot find good health care. Just to be invested in it in a real way, to be honest about it, to be soulful about it. I would first have to say it’s not just musicians. It does help when you find the audience is responding immediately to a song.

Your brothers, Coke and Pete, played with Santana; your niece is ’80s pop star Sheila E., and another brother, Javier, formed the seminal punk band the Zeros. I was somewhat of a lost soul there for a while. Did you leave a song off if it didn’t get a good audience reaction. Oh, a lot of people who would refer to this illness as a lifestyle illness, in the same way they did with AIDs. Was your father encouraging of your decision to become a musician. One song on the record, “Down in the Bowery,” was written for your son, who’s beginning a career in music. I think it made it tougher-sounding, more streamlined, more focused. Did you leave a song off if it didn’t get a good audience reaction. Oh, a lot of confidence in the material. For us, we needed to get that response from the audience in order to give us more confidence in the material. Music was always there. It wasn’t a childhood thing for me. How did music become the Escovedo family business. On the cover of his latest release, “Street Songs of Love,” Escovedo looks lean and strong, like a man who has fought to achieve his current position and has no intention of relinquishing it.

new album found in the headlines Heidi Montag Recording Second Album: “Recording My New Single!” - June 26, 2010 by jamesdean

pic

Steve Morales my music producer moves into my house tomorrow to make my summer album!” Montag’s first album ‘Superficial’. Montag tweeted the happy news yesterday: “Heading into the music studio recording my new single. I feel so sorry for her, how insecure does one have to be to do that to themselves. Yup, the Hills star is heading back into the studio to create more tuneless travesties. I’m surprised producers still want to work with her, but whatever pays the bills, I guess. – Rachel, Glasgow, Scotland, 25/6/2010 12:40. Thats right, I keep her album under my pillow every night. Report abuse. I’ve spent over $1 million, almost $2 million, on this album. “It’s cost as much or more than a Britney Spears album because I wanted it to be that quality.  ‘The songs will make an impact in pop history.” Oh, they left an impact alright… Have a listen to Superficial below: Bloody hell, not even auto-tune can smother the badness in that thing.

Montag’s album sold 658 albums in its first week. Report abuse. Who knows, this album could be a hit.   Source.     Oh no, not again. Her album was called Superficial. Maybe. It bombed.

The album reportedly cost the couple $1million. Report abuse. her performances are always complete rip off of britney’s old performances, the outfits and everything. what heidi lacks is the voice, the moves, the charisma and charm…oh and the TALENT!

Find the truth on the painful subject of new album here – Korn returns to stripped-down sound on “Remember” - June 26, 2010 by jamesdean

image

Music. “We wanted to make a stripped-down record with just the four of us,” Davis says, referring to guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer, bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu and new drummer Ray Luzier. “And the idea popped into my head to use Ross again. But in our eyes, it’s just not there yet.” “Roadrunner is a rock label that understands rock music and the whole culture centered around it,” says Katsis, who points to the label’s success with Slipknot as a primary enticement. “They understood the type of back-to-basics record Korn was making and were very enthusiastic about it. I knew Munky had been talking to him, so I asked him to ask Ross, and Ross said, ‘Hell yeah — let’s do this.’” Robinson says, “They’ve had songwriters and weird musicians and electronic stuff on the last couple of records. It all just seemed to click.” In addition to the album’s standard version, Roadrunner will release a CD/DVD special edition with extra tracks, in-the-studio video clips and additional packaging, as well as a red vinyl edition available only through the Roadrunner store. “It’s nice working with a company that can deal with all the craziness involved in putting out a record, so we can just go out there and focus on doing what we do,” Davis says. “They actually have locals who show up at our shows.

But none of that had anything to do with what created Korn. I haven’t seen that since the early ’90s.”. My job was to make sure none of that was in there. “But that’s not like putting an actual CD out where there’s a marketing team behind you pushing the record,” Davis continues. After a pair of releases on which the pioneering nu-metal band pushed its sound in unlikely new directions, “Remember Who You Are” presents a return to the moody but muscular style that drove such late-’90s landmarks as “Follow the Leader” and “Issues” to combined sales that exceeded 7.

Eminem, clean and sober, draws on new inspiration: I’m sure we must all feel bleak - June 26, 2010 by jamesdean

pic

His most recent album Recovery is expected to set a new record as the biggest selling album during first week sales for 2010. Eminem promised fans a different set of releases last year — “Relapse” and “Relapse 2″ — but shifted gears almost as soon as I got that beat.” FEAR FACTOR. Eminem has good reason to feel grateful: June 21 marked the release of “Recovery,” his second studio album in as many years after a long and turbulent hiatus.

Fans responded. All that’s back now, though, and it’s incredible.” Like “Relapse” before it, “Recovery” could be considered a personal triumph simply for existing. When he says, “Technically, I’m not even supposed to be here right now,” on the introduction to “Recovery” cut “Cinderella Man,” he’s not joking. “Anybody who’s known someone fighting this kind of addiction knows it can be extremely challenging,” says Paul Rosenberg, Eminem’s longtime manager. “During that period I lost a friend, and I certainly didn’t have as much of a business partner. That would be the best sales week since October 2008, when AC/DC’s Black Ice sold 784,000 in its first week. Really, though, everyone is here for Eminem. I wanted to put the best of the best on this record.” Rosenberg says of the track “Love the Way You Lie,” which features Rihanna and chronicles an abusive relationship, “Marshall wrote it with Rihanna in mind and hoped that she was open to taking on that subject matter. “It makes me feel like, ‘Finally, I got it,’” Eminem says. “It took me a long time to write the right song for him, and I think two things came into play with that. The new sound reinforces Eminem’s lyrical dominance and presents a clearer vision of his potential as a mature artist. “It’s everything that you would want to hear from him at this point in his career,” says DJ Khalil, who helped craft four tracks on “Recovery.” “He’s the best rapper, period, and he has a lot to say right now.” “As (“Relapse”) was coming along, I heard the song structures and production get broader and better,” Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine says. “It all came together in the last month or two to a real crescendo. He has just released his latest album, “Recovery,” and even though it was leaked two weeks before the release, it will still set the record for the biggest sales week of 2010, reports Rolling Stone. In its first week of sales, which is huge in this new age of the music industry.

His last albums haven’t sold as much, but this one will appeal to a much broader base. In their accompanying music videos, he’d dress up like his subjects (Elvis and Michael Jackson, most notoriously) or subject them to violent fantasies (Moby).

Los Angeles Times (blog): No Age announce details of new album ‘Everything in Between’ - June 25, 2010 by jamesdean

image

Justin Bieber. jj. Michael Jackson. Katerpillar 8. Punkgaze. Fabolous. Omarion. Flying Lotus. Amy Winehouse. Positive Amputation 12. Shred and Trascend 13. Jay-Z. Kings of Leon. In an interview with Pitchfork , guitarist Randy Randall explained that the album is “kind of a sound-collage element that’s rooted in the songwriting process for some of the tracks, and some of them are sort of straight-up songs with textures and flurries of sampled sounds. Snoop Dogg. B.o. Lupe Fiasco. While speculation is just that, the album’s song titles yield a glimpse into what can be expected: “Life Prowler,” “Fever Dreaming,” “Skinned,” “Valley Hump Crash,” “Shred and Transcend” and “Glitter.” Presumably, the latter does not concern the failed 2001 Mariah Carey vehicle about a young girl with a huge voice chasing her dreams in the big city. Ludacris. Eminem. Usher. Wait What. Young Dro. Drake. Glitter 3. Rihanna. Monica. Deltron 3030. Wale.

It doesn’t sound like a lo-fi pop record. Kate Nash. Plies. Interpol. Band of Horses. Gucci Mane. And, of course, the ever lovable shitgaze! — Everything in Between 1. The album features 13 tracks. Beck. Judging from the name of their forthcoming full-length, “Everything in Between,” Dean Spunt and Randall will continue to defy expectations, pulling from an array of influences, shifting tempos and dabbling with collage sampling. Led Zeppelin. Game. Curren$y. 2 Pistols. R. Cat Power. Young Buck. Notorious BIG. LCD Soundsystem. Life Prowler 2. Young Money. Juelz Santana. It’s not a whole lot different than from what we have done in the past; there’s no big departures. Common Heat 6. Skinned 7.

Two years ago, L.A. duo No Age released their official debut, Nouns (’cause, remember, Weirdo Rippers was a singles collection). Tiesto. Prince. The band will continue on without him, but they’ve changed their name, quite understandably, to simply You Say Party. (No exclamation mark, even.) Also, keyboardist Krista Loewen has left the band. T.I. Jonna Lee. She & Him. Tech N9ne. Dr. Dre. Three 6 Mafia. Jay Electronica. Justice. It’s not a whole lot different than from what we have done in the past; there’s no big departures. Open your eyes to the truth on the sickening subject of new album here – Drake’s New Album Debuts at No.1 - June 24, 2010 by jamesdean

Digital track sales this past week totaled 21.4 million downloads, down 4% compared to last week (22.3 million) and down 1% compared to the sum last week (5.61 million) and down 1% compared to the same total at this point last year (552.3 million). The numbers are in. Closing out the top 10 is last week’s No. 1, “Glee: The Music, Journey to Regionals,’ rounds out our list with a tally of 39,000 records. Also, the ever-popular ‘Now’ music compilation series places yet another collection, the creatively titled ‘Now 34,’ at No. 4 with a total of 88,000 copies sold. Part of this success can be attributed to a popular ticket and download combination package offered in advance of the band’s summer tour. The six remaining albums on the chart are filled with familiar faces and names from recent weeks. Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending June 20) totaled 6.14 million units, up 9% compared to the comparable week of 2009 (21.6 million). Star staff and wire services.

Next up, Sarah McLachlan’s new studio set “Laws of Illusion” opens at No. 3 with 94,000. Not to be the bearer of bad news, but with 88,000 this marks the first album in the main “Now” series — not counting its various genre-specific offshoots — to debut with less than 100,000 since the first “Now” compilation started with 48,000 in 1998. Justin Bieber’s “My World 2.0″ drops one slot to No. 7 (47,000; down 4%), Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now” holds at No. 8 (40,000; up 4%) and Christina Aguilera’s “Bionic” dips six positions to No. 9 (112,000; up 24%). Year to date album sales stand at 142.4 million, down 11% compared to the comparable week of 2009 (21.6 million). Star staff and wire services.

Get the facts about new album here – Miley Cyrus News Roundup: On New CD and New ‘Dark’ Movie Role - June 24, 2010 by jamesdean

image

Oddly for someone not born until 1992, the production here is decidedly retro, circa mid- ‘80s, such as on the beat-heavy Stacey Q rip-off (yet strangely adorable) “Who Owns My Heart.”  Think heavy drums, lots of synths, layers upon layers of dense production. I tell him every one’s about him. ‘All of them are about him in a way, but it’s also about past relationships that you gotta get over and move on and just about freeing yourself from anything that you feel holds you back.” She added: “Just let go of anything that’s not going to help you in your future and… always keep going forward.’ How crazy in love is Miley, you wonder. She ended the streaming set with a song dedicated to the gay and lesbian community, telling a crowd of mostly teens that she does not understand how people can be discriminated against for loving whom they love. Has there been something missing in your life. Viewer discretion advised. The song sounds great live though, and Miley didn’t lip-sync a single word during her show.

From the overtly sexual layout in Vanity Fair to her suggestive CD release party at the House of Blues, (which reporters say included some “crotch rubbing” whaaa??), Ms. Cyrus is going for fans the old-fashion way– shock value. He knows it’s part of her act, but he’s not thrilled that guys in the audience are seeing his girlfriend dressed in lingerie.” But seeing as how he’s the inspiration for Miley’s new album, you’d think he’d be happy enough already. Heck, she’s 17 going on 45. Which begs the question, will Miley suffer the same demise, or is she really just a good girl going through a phase of inappropriate dress. The fact that Miley is speaking up in 2010 is a powerful sign of the tidal wave of change forthcoming from her generation.

One of which is her music. I don’t know if she realizes that she is a seventeen year old crossing some very big lines sans panty lines. Trust me; you’ll get there soon enough.  The songs with emotionally mature themes work best here when she’s not forcing her fake ID down our throat. Listen for yourself below. Cyrus has already signed on for another novel-based movie, the paranormal thriller Wake. With the release of Miley Cyrus’ recent antics though. Miley’s forward-moving philosophy can be found on much of Can’t Be Tamed . “Just let go of anything that’s not going to help you in your future and… always keep going forward.’ How crazy in love is Miley, you wonder.
