Although “Tangled” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1″ have both already cleaned up at the box office, the two fantasy flicks continue to wrangle for the top spot in theaters. And on Friday, the battle belonged to “Tangled,” Disney’s animated update of the classic kid’s tale. Look for a battle of the family movies this weekend as audiences snack on box office leftovers during what is traditionally one of the lesser performing periods of the year. The family film’s hefty haul now stands at about $80 million since sliding into theaters over the Thanksgiving weekend. Well, that will never happen. Rowling, racked up another huge take over the weekend to consolidate its position at the top of the British box office. So Warner Bros.’ “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1″ in its third weekend and Disney’s “Tangled” in its second will find themselves fighting for the top slot with grosses in the mid to high $20 million range. Second place in the international arena belongs to Rapunzel in just seven territories and a weekend debut of 16.5 million US dollars (£10,567,140). But if you went to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 1 , Tangled , and The Warrior’s Way this weekend, your brain just might scramble them together into one beautiful, terrifying six-hour film. Six films and no Oscars . I’m working on how to relax – I’m working on my greenhouse. Anna Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal’s nudity-filled romantic drama “Love and Other Drugs” came in fourth place.

“The American,” with George Clooney as an assassin hiding out in Italy for one last hit, made its debut at five. “Unstoppable” continues to cling to a top-five slot at the box office. Has all the buzz and counter-buzz on Burlesque intrigued you or scared you away?

Tell us what you’ll be seeing in the poll, and if you feel like it, tell us why in the comments! That’s right, none of the actors in six of the most popular films of all time has been nominated for an Oscar for their “Potter” roles. No doubt some academy members regret not nominating Harris for his final role before his death, but Gambon has been consistently passed over too. Granted, none of the adults have a lot of screen time, but if Judi Dench can win supporting actress for uttering five lines and wearing an enormous side-bustle as Queen Elizabeth in “Shakespeare in Love,” then Gambon’s death scene, Broadbent’s combination of hubris and shame, or Rickman’s pained fury deserve at least a nomination. The train thriller trailed “Drugs” closely with $1.9 million, a figure which nudges its total haul to about $65 million.
