Startling concert headline – Jay-Z Free Concert Cancelled

Jay-Z Free Concert Cancelled
New York show axed, but Stateside fans can see him on tour with Eminem…
Jay-Z has been forced to cancel a planned free concert in his native New York as city officials refused to grant permission for the performance due to security concerns.
The rap giant had planned a surprise gig on 21st June on the rooftop of the famous Ed Sullivan Theater, which would then be broadcast on The Late Show With David Letterman.
Fellow Glastonbury Festival headliner Sir Paul McCartney is among the artists who have previously been given permission to perform atop the venue. However, because details of Jay-Z’s appearance were leaked to the public, the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theater and Broadcasting felt public safety would become an issue.
“There was discussion of a concert, and ultimately it was decided there would be no permit,” a spokesperson said. “Many permits are granted on the condition that the event is not made public beforehand for capacity and security reasons. This event was made public.”
New York fans will now have to wait until September when they can see the rapper alongside Eminem as part of the two-date Home and Home Tour. The pair will perform together in Eminem’s hometown of Detroit on 2nd September, followed by a gig at New York’s Yankee Stadium, Jay’s home turf, on 13th September.
Closer to home, Jay-Z is on the line-up for the Wireless Festival on 4th July, and T in the Park on the 11th.
