Authorities subsequently searched T.I.’s car and arrested the couple for possession of a controlled substance. (Officials have so far declined to specify the drug involved.) Dennis Flynn wrote in a report made public on Monday. TMZ reported that unnamed friends of Hilton’s said the hotel heiress and nightlife regular is wavering a bit from her initial “it wasn’t my purse” story, explaining that Paris claims a friend recently borrowed the purse and “probably” left the illicit drug inside it. Just a few hours ago Paris Hilton tweeted her followers, thanking them for their support. She certainly seems to be taking this latest arrest in stride. The 29-year-old celebrity socialite was charged with cocaine possession. In front of the cameras, Paris Hilton seems right at home. “It could be a setup,” Hilton is reportedly telling friends.

According to celebrity Web site TMZ , Hilton may claim the purse she was holding wasn’t hers. But the case against Hilton was later dropped after officials learned that someone else in her group was smoking. That’s the same defense she reportedly used in South Africa last month when police detained and questioned her about smoking marijuana at the World Cup . Although she has since changed her story about the purse, reportedly telling friends it was indeed hers but had been left in the possession of a pal. Regardless, cops say they found .8 grams of coke in the purse, and Hilton has been charged with a felony.
